Amendment Passes the Assembly Judiciary Committee

The Assembly Judiciary Committee passed the constitutional ban on civil unions and marriage on a 6/2 vote. This time the vote did not fall along party lines. One lone Democrat, Rep. Staskunas (D-West Allis) joined the five Republicans in passing the amendment.

Voting yes:
Rep. Gundrum (R-New Berlin)
Rep. McCormick (R-Appleton)
Rep. Pridemore (R-Hartford)
Rep. Kerkman (R-Burlington)
Rep. Kleefisch (R-Oconomowoc)
Rep. Staskunas (D-West Allis)

Voting No on the Amendment:
Rep. Turner (D-Racine)
Rep. Kessler (D-Milwaukee)

The full Assembly will vote on the amendment within the next month or so. You can find out who your representative is, and how they voted on the amendment in the last session.
