It's Official: Senate Takes Up Amendment Tuesday

The constitutional ban on civil unions and marriage is officially on the Senate schedule for tomorrow. The Senate will convene at 9:30am but will likely go into party caucus. They might not begin the real floor session until after lunch time, and the amendment is not the only item on tomorrow's agenda. It could be a long day.

We'll update the blog as the day unfolds. It will be important to try to turn out opponents in the Senate gallery for the vote. We want senators to look up and see the real people who will be affected by the ban as they cast their votes.

You can follow the day's proceedings online here. Click the "Audio&Video" tab in the upper left-hand corner of the page. The amendment in the Senate is formally known as SJR 53. You can see the legislative history of the bill here, including which registered lobbying groups have taken a stand.
