Washington State Passes Nondiscrimination Law

Today, the Washington state Senate added sexual orientation and gender identity to its statewide nondiscrimination law. Governor Christine Gregroire has pledged to sign it. This means Washington will become the 17th state to ban discrimination based on sexual orientation and the seventh state to ban gender identity discrimination.

It's terrific news, but it's also a reminder that it's still legal to be fired for your sexual orientation in 33 states in this country.
