The Ban on Civil Unions and Marriage Passes

But not without a big fight.

Rep. Underheim-- the only Republican who spoke against the ban just gave an amazing speech.

I'll post the details of the vote as soon as I have them.

that was a great speech, i watched it online, one of the best speeches by any member of any party i have ever heard, it's' nice to see its not completely about party politics when such an important issue comes before us, i salute Rep. Underheim, it takes a lot of guts to stand up to his party and tell them what a ridiculous thing they are trying to do

We all have our work cut out for us now! Right now!

If you care about preventing the ban on marriage equality/civil unions/domestic partnership from becoming a sad reality, each one of you must start speaking out now to everyone you work with, live near, socialize with... and NOW is the time to start getting very serious about the fall vote on this.

We can't let this pass in Wisconsin and discriminate against anyone in our state!

Rep. Underheim talked about how this amendment was "anti-constitutional" by inserting social policy into the constitution. And how it would set the stage for other restrictions on individuals.

After the vote, John Gard went over to talk to him. I can't imagine what he could have said. "Sorry I'm such a schmuck"?
