Final Vote on the Ban Could Be Any Day

The state Assembly could take up the constitutional ban on civil unions and marriage as soon as tomorrow or as late as March 9th.

This will be the final vote in the Legislature before the ban goes to the statewide ballot this November. We are asking everyone to contact their representatives and urge them to vote no using this link:

If you've already contacted your representative or know he or she will vote no, please share this link with friends and family:

Our elected representatives stand at the brink of using our constitution to deny rights and freedoms. Here's what else is at stake:
• the future hope of extending civil unions or marriage rights
• existing legal protections for unmarried couples--whether gay or non-gay
• Wisconsin's reputation as a fair and independent-minded state

We will let you know as soon as the vote is scheduled, and we'll cover the Assembly debate as it unfolds right here on the blog.

I suggest that VoteNo page for the letter to the representative be changed to check to see if the letter writter's representative is on the list, before the person takes the time to write a letter.
