Women’s Work

The building that we work in here at Action Wisconsin is filled with loads of wonderful and interesting tenants. the Wisconsin Women’s Network is one of them.

The WWN is a coalition of organizations and individuals who strive to advance the status of women in Wisconsin through communication, education and advocacy. They are also formally opposed to the proposed amendment, and about five or six months ago they authorized the formation of an LGBT task force, to which I am a liaison.

The task force is made up of women from a variety of backgrounds and groups, and once a month we meet on the fourth floor of the building to work and strategize ways to unite the voices of other women and organizations around the state who oppose the amendment.

Well, yesterday we put some of our strategizing to practice and used the lunch hour to assemble our first mailing. In this picture is Nora, the chair of the WWN, and Stacy, the WWN administrator folding, stuffing, and getting ready to mail. Not shown in the picture are all of the other dedicated and driven women who give up their lunch hour once a month to stop the ban.
