Nick Halsted: Milwaukee Volunteer Coordinator
I want to introduce our new Milwaukee volunteer coordinator: Nick Halsted.
Nick, who is originally from Delavan, first became involved with the campaign almost a year ago as a student at Carroll College in Waukesha, where he studies organizational leadership and politics. He began organizing students at his school, but soon became the co-chair of the student table -- part of Milwaukee’s Fair Wisconsin Coalition. When the Waukesha Action Network was organized in May, Nick took the lead, recruiting volunteers and organizing canvasses. Even though Nick still has two years of school left, this campaign is so important to him that he’s decided to take a semester off to work with Fair Wisconsin. He doesn’t think it's right for the government to tell us what we can and can’t do when it comes to basic rights.
In Milwaukee (and in the rest of the state) we have a very aggressive field program. At this point, we’re canvassing on Saturdays and Sundays and Nick is working hard on one of the most difficult tasks on any campaign: filling all the volunteer spots.
