Organizing in Milwaukee
Over the past two months, we've more than doubled our Milwaukee field staff. It took a bit of trial and error, but we've finally figured out an effective way to run the show over here.
Here's how it works: Jordan focuses on going out into the community to build our list of supporters and to recruit more volunteers. Joey, Nick, and Matt are our volunteer coordinators for Milwaukee County. They're responsible for filling all of our volunteer spots from canvassers to phone-bankers. Talia, as the Waukesha County organizer, is responsible for the same for but for Waukesha County. Deon has the formidable task of finding locations for each of our canvasses, preparing the turf, and ensuring that all of the data is entered post-canvass.
Corinne is working to get the word out in the African American Community. Joey is also working to organize the Latino Community. And I do a lot of the political and organizational outreach as well as oversee the entire field operation to make sure that everything runs smoothly.
Here are some photos of the team:
Here's Jordan entering the names of the volunteers she recruited from the LGBT film festival last night.
