Reach out ... reach back ...
Recently, the finance team of Fair Wisconsin asked me to help them organize a Chicago event. In a previous life, I was in the convention/event industry and based in Chicago, but after almost ten years in Wisconsin, a lot of my connections there are, uh, rusty.
Nonetheless, I thought I’d give it a try.
It’s been simultaneously taxing and fun to remember, identify and locate old friends and colleagues, and I’m excited at the opportunity to invite them to join the campaign. Illinois is lucky. Our southern neighbor almost had one of these hideous amendment battles on their ballot this November, but the proponents apparently had some difficulty with their petition. A win in Wisconsin will go a long way toward helping other states like Illinois prevent more erosion of our rights and liberties.
I suspect we have quite a few blogger readers from the Chicago area, and quite a few more who know people in Chicago. Here’s a chance to do your part. Invite your friends to learn more about the campaign, and contribute to the final push for equality on the November ballot.
But whatever part of the state or nation you, the reader, are from, now's the time to step up one more time. Who do you know that you haven't talked with yet?
Reach out. Reach back.
