Students Travel to Help our Campaign
This weekend in Milwaukee, we were lucky enough to have 62 College Democrats from around the country come door-to-door with us.
Students came from nearby states like Illinois, Michigan, and Minnesota, and from places as far away as Nevada, Texas, and Florida.
These students knocked on almost 4,000 doors and had face-to-face conversations with over 1,100 voters. But what was most remarkable about this weekend was not the voter contact. Instead it was the fact that all of these students traveled miles and miles to help defeat the ban on civil unions and marriage here in Wisconsin, in the face of important political struggles in their home states, and despite the fact that many of them are not only extremely busy trying to graduate, but are also working a number of jobs to put themselves through college.
Each of them made their way to Milwaukee knowing how important it is that we fight this ban here in Wisconsin, because on November 7, when we’re the first state to defeat one of these amendments, we’re going to make history.
